Welcome to the fourteenth issue of “Fenice
Scuol@Europa News”. Our newsletter
addresses anyone who is interested in European Projects, but in
particular those people who are interested in the themes these projects
deal with.
This issue
describes the projects FENICE is involved in as a promoter or partner
and the products developed by transnational partnerships, with the
support of the European Commission, within the framework of the Lifelong
Learning Programme.
We hope that this issue will help to promote these results, materials and
methods to a wider audience, and it will encourage the exchange of ideas
and experiences as well.
First we would like to tell you who we are in the hope that we may start
a productive collaboration.
Our association Federazione Nazionale Insegnanti Centro di iniziativa per
l’Europa aims at improving the professional characteristics of teachers
and the standards of state schools and at enhancing democratic reforms.
The association tackles the political, social and cultural problems
connected to the school world, the teaching job and the professional
growth of teachers.

A Guideline book and a CD-Rom ready to be used
Two years have gone by since this project began its journey from
The language used by the partners was English but the content of the
Guideline Book has been translated in the various languages (EN, BG, IT, RO
and TR) and may be consulted on the website

Finally a Teacher Training Course for in-service teachers in

" Be My Guest: Russian for European Hospitality”
An online course of Russian language
Be My Guest is a project which offers learning Russian online. E-learning
is becoming more and more popular today. No wonder – it gives us enchanting
opportunities to learn when and where we want, following our own needs.
Apart from self-study, through the Internet we can be connected with the
learning community and get help from online tutors. This will be possible
for our learners at

We are now on the home straight, nearly two years after we started the
project trip trying to make Russian available to everyone who wish to use it
as a language of communication. Well, as we promised at the beginning, it is
first of all for the hospitality sector. We really hope that to learn
Russian may be a trigger for people working in this field. Be My Guest will
introduce them step by step to various situations they
may face at work but this time they will
learn how to cope with them in Russian.
Be My Guest is also for all the people who want to make their first steps
in Russian in a safe and entertaining way. They will hear the really spoken
Russian through the dialogues of native speakers and foreigners. The
situations are normal but, at the same time, dynamic. The interactive
exercises help to remember the words and language patterns and are just fun
– you will not be frustrated, as the help button is always there.
We are now in the process of finalizing the learning materials which will
be all online in their completed form very soon. Meanwhile we are getting
more and more people looking forward to becoming our learners. We have been
carrying out a number of meetings in the partners’ countries which have
helped us to win Be My Guest users.

"Learning Arabic language for approaching Arab countries”
The state of art of the project
The main aim of this project is to create a set of innovative tools to
promote and facilitate the acquisition of basic competences in the Arabic
language, as well as a better knowledge of Arab culture, among European
citizens, with the main objectives of promoting understanding among
different cultures, promoting the carry out of shared projects, increasing
the competitiveness of European companies when doing business, facilitating
communication and understanding with Arab people living in EU.
The main results achieved during the first phase of the project have been
a report on available multimedia courses and materials for Arabic language,
a report on the needs of people doing business with Arab countries and
people studying Arabic Furthermore a Website (www.learningarabic.eu) has been created: It will
include the multimedia Arabic language course, completed with 10 units,
according the needs highlighted in the first phase, a version of the dialogs
of the course to be used in Ipod/MP3, information about the geography and
culture of Arab countries, as well as about their relationship with EU and a
forum of discussion about Arabic language learning.
Other foreseen products of the project will be a CD-ROM including the
same course, to be used when an Internet connection is not available and
POD-CAST files, used when travelling or in any other circumstance.

"Languages & Integration through Singing””
The project became realty
It is quite a common place to say that the language of music is universal
and that to sing together joins people of different origins and cultures. So
why not to use music and songs in order to learn other languages and to
integrate immigrants? This is the point of departure for the methodological
and didactic idea of this project.
Indeed in order to encourage innovation in education and to facilitate
integration with a view to enhancing and improving communication and
intercultural interaction and understanding, this project aims at producing,
testing, optimising and evaluating teaching materials for Italian,
Russian and Romanian as foreign languages explicitly
using songs, supported by audio-visual materials, multimedia and
electronic communication.
The material, addressed to learners in the age range of 16+, teachers of
IT/RO/RU as a second language, people seeking employment abroad and to
individuals providing tourist services, is now accessible through a
web portal in three languages

www.languagesbysongs.eu In it guidelines and recommendations
on how to introduce the music approach in language learning are inserted as
well as sample learning materials – themes, vocabulary, grammar content,
drills taking into consideration the use of karaoke. At the moment the
partnership is piloting the learning material in the partners’ countries in
cooperation with the associated partners (schools and adult training
centres). The results of the experimentation will be taken in account for
the finalization of the materials.

CELCIT - " Competences in e-Learning and Certification In Tourism”
The e-learning course awarded with the E-Quality Label 2009
One of the most important instruments to increase integration between
different countries and to boost their development is the industry of
tourism. This industry needs personnel with good specific training. With the
aim to develop the European dimension of the trainers’ training and to
reduce the gap between school education and labour market in the tourist
sector, the institutions of four countries (Italy, Lithuania, Romania and
Spain), coordinated by Fenice,
identified the skills needed by a modern “Agent for Local Tourism
Development” (ALT), defined a common frame of reference on which to
structure the legal recognition of qualifications founded on well identified
competences using “Descriptors defining levels in the European
Qualifications Framework”, wrote the contents of an e-learning course (in
English) and inserted them on the web platform
Docebo, hosted in the
FENICE web site.
The course for training a “Tourist Development Agent” is ready and
addressed to people equipped with requirements at level 2 of the aforesaid
Descriptors and having knowledge of English at intermediate level, plus
economics, geography, basic tourism concepts and information technology.

" Be My Guest: Russian for European Hospitality”
Un cours de formation en ligne de langue russe
L’apprentissage en ligne est une pratique de plus en plus répandue. Ce qui
n'étonne pas, du moment qu'en ligne, on apprend quand et où on veut, selon
les besoins de chacun.
Par le projet Be My Guest on n'a pas seulement la possibilité d'apprendre le
Russe, mais aussi d'être en communication avec la communauté des élèves et
de profiter de l'aide de tuteurs en ligne à travers le site
www.russianonline.eu
A présent, le projet est sur le point d'aboutir, mais le parcours a duré
presque deux ans pendant lesquels nous avons fait l'effort de rendre
disponible cette langue à tous ceux qui veulent s'en servir comme langue de
communication e, surtout, aux travailleurs dans le secteur hôtelier.
Be My Guest les conduira par la
mains à travers les différentes situations qui peuvent se vérifier
dans un contexte de travail, mais, grâce à Be My
Guest , il apprendront à les maîtriser en russe.
Le cours est utile à tous ceux qui désirent apprendre les premiers éléments
de la langue d'une manière solide et amusante. Ils écouteront le Russe
réellement parlé à travers des dialogues entre natifs et étrangers. Les
situations prises en examen sont communes et, au même temps, dynamiques. Les
exercices interactifs aident à rappeler les mots et les structures
linguistiques et ils sont amusants. L'élève ne se sentira
pas frustré car il pourra toujours
presser une touche pour avoir une
aide.
Les 5 partenaires Bulgarie, Italie, Malta et Espagne sont en train de
compléter le matériel d'apprentissage qui sera bientôt en ligne dans sa
forme complète et, entre temps, ils l'ont présenté au cours de plusieurs
congrès dont un, à l'Université de Grenade (Faculté de Littérature et
Philosophie)
en
mai 2009, un autre, à Malta, en octobre 2009 et un troisième, en
collaboration avec l'Université de Traduction et Interprétation de

" Learning Arabic language for approaching Arab countries”
L'état actuel
Ce projet veut créer une série d' instruments innovateurs pour promouvoir et
faciliter l’acquisition des compétences de base en langue arabe et des
connaissances de la culture arabe en Europe. Les objectifs principaux sont
la compréhension entre différentes cultures, la participation à des projets
communs, la facilitation de la communication avec les arabes qui vivent en
Europe.
Le principaux résultats obtenus pendant cette première phase sont un rapport
sur les cours et les matériaux disponibles pour l'apprentissage de la langue
arabe par Internet ou CD-ROM; un rapport sur les besoins des entreprises
ayant des rapports avec les pays Arabes
ainsi que des personnes étudiant l’Arabe
et, enfin, la création d' un site web (www.learningarabic.eu)
Le site aura
une plateforme d'apprentissage en ligne
dotée d' un cours multimédia de dix unités visant à l’apprentissage de
l’arabe, réalisé pour répondre aux besoins
préalablement individués. D'une version des dialogues du cours à utiliser
avec Ipod/MP3. D' informations sur la géographie et la culture des pays
arabes et de leurs relations avec
On prévoit aussi la création d' un
CD-ROM contenant le cours, à utiliser hors d' Internet
et de fichiers audio téléchargeables contenant les mêmes unités
d’apprentissage mais à utiliser
par IPOD / MP3 avec une approche de seule écoute pour apprendre en
liberté.

"Languages & Integration through Singing””
Le projet est realité
Il est presque un lieu commun de dire que le langage de la musique est
universel et que chanter ensemble unit les gens de différentes origines et
cultures. Donc pourquoi ne pas utiliser la musique et les chansons pour
enseigner les langues et intégrer les migrants? Cette approche serait
indiquée pour tout âges et toutes catégories d'apprenants.
Le projet LIS répond tout à fait à cette exigence. En effet, au fin de faciliter l’intégration, tout en améliorant la communication et
l’interaction interculturelle, ce projet s'est proposé de produire,
expérimenter et évaluer des matériaux
didactiques pour l’Italien, le Russe et le Roumain comme langues étrangères,
en utilisant les chansons et les
matériaux multimédia. Le projet veut
aussi encourager l’innovation parce qu' il sera bien utile aux enseignants
qui emploient le tableau interactif multimédia.
Les matériaux didactiques son destinés aux enseignants de IT/RO/RU comme
langue étrangère, aux étudiants de plus de 16 ans, à ceux qui cherchent un
poste de travail dans les pays parlant les langues susmentionnées, aux
employés dans le secteur du tourisme. Les matériaux sont accessibles sur
portail web en trois langues IT/RO/RU,

méthodologiques pour l'usage des chansons dans l’enseignement/apprentissage
d'une langue et des instructions su l’emploi des matériaux didactiques aussi
pour les produire tout seul. Il y a encore plusieurs
exemples de matériaux didactiques avec le guide pour l'enseignant
(compositions, lexique, grammaire, exercices, test d’autoévaluation et le
karaoké).
Une expérimentation des matériaux est en ce moment en cours dans les écoles
et les centres pour les adultes des pays du partenariat. Ce projet,
coordonné par FENICE, va durer 2 ans et regroupe les compétences du 4
institutions de Bulgarie, Italie, Roumanie et Slovaquie, en collaboration
avec nombreux partenaires associé et prévoit la création de trois
communautés internationales des enseignants de IT/RO/RU comme langue
étrangère.

CELCIT - " Compétences en e-Apprentissage et Certification en Tourisme”
Le cours de formation a reçu l'attestation de Qualité 2009
Un des plus importants outils d'intégration parmi les peuples et de soutien
à leur développement est sûrement l'industrie du tourisme. Mais cette
industrie a besoin de personnel doté d’une préparation adéquate.
Afin de développer la dimension européenne de la formation des formateurs et
de favoriser les liens entre la formation scolaire et le monde du travail,
en particulier dans le secteur touristique, les partenaires de quatre pays
(Italie, Lituanie, Roumanie et Espagne), coordonnés par
Fenice, ont identifié les
compétences nécessaires à la création d’une nouvelle figure professionnelle:
l' «Agent pour le développement Touristique Local» (ALT). Ils ont aussi
défini un cadre commun de référence pour la certification légale des
qualifications (basé sur des compétences précises), sur la base des
“Descripteurs des niveaux dans le Cadre Européen des Qualifications”, et
écrit le contenu (en Anglais) d’un cours d'apprentissage en ligne, inséré
sur la plateforme Docebo du site de la FENICE.
Le cours de formation de ALT, désormais complet, s’adresse aux personnes qui
possèdent le niveau 2 des
descripteurs susdits et la
connaissance de la langue anglaise
niveau «moyen», outre les connaissances de base en économie, géographie,
tourisme et informatique.
Du moment que l’usage du cours présente l'avantage double de l'apprentissage
des éléments fondamentaux du tourisme et de la pratique contemporaine de
l'Anglais, un bon nombre de lycées hôteliers, en Italie, en ont demandé.

Le Linee Guida al metodo BSI ed il CD sono pronti per l’uso
Sono passati due anni da
quando il progetto ha iniziato il suo viaggio dalla Turchia verso i
paesi europei –Italia, Romania e Bulgaria – che avevano aderito alla
nostra iniziativa e siamo ormai alle ultime tappe con la pubblicazione
delle Linee Guida e del CD di accompagnamento ed i seminari finali in
ciascun paese per la diffusione del metodo. Abbiamo organizzato seminari
in ciascuno dei paesi membri per diffondere le idee principali del
metodo, per discutere le idee ed i principi che ci guidavano, per
verificare che cosa potesse funzionare al meglio nelle diverse realtà
scolastiche. Dalla collaborazione con i primi gruppi coinvolti sono
venute fuori le basi teoriche incluse nelle linee guida e, soprattutto,
le attività che sono state sperimentate nelle classi BSI e che potranno
servire da esempio per rendere l’insegnamento delle lingue straniere
interessante, vivo, tale da entusiasmare i discenti e metterli in grado
di esprimersi nella lingua straniera senza essere vittime di paure e
timidezze.
La lingua usata durante i
lavori del progetto è stata l’inglese, ma
le linee guida al Metodo
BSI sono state tradotte nelle varie lingue (EN, IT, BG, RO e TR) e
sono consultabili sul sito
www.bsiproject.com.

Un corso on-line sulla lingua russa
L’e-learning diventa una pratica di apprendimento sempre più diffusa. Non c’è da meravigliarsene in quanto esso ci permette di imparare quando e dove vogliamo, sulla base delle nostre necessità. Tramite il progetto Be My Guest non si ha solo la possibilità di apprendere da soli il russo, ma anche di collegarsi tramite Internet con la comunità di allievi e di usufruire dell’aiuto di tutori on-line nel sito www.russianonline.eu
Il progetto è ora in
dirittura d’arrivo dopo un viaggio durato quasi due anni durante il
quale abbiamo cercato di rendere disponibile questa lingua a chiunque
desiderasse usarla come lingua di comunicazione, ma anzitutto per il
settore turistico-alberghiero. Noi speriamo che questo corso possa
stimolare coloro che lavorano in questo settore ad imparare il russo. Be
My Guest li introdurrà passo dopo passo nelle varie situazioni che
affrontano nel loro lavoro ma stavolta essi apprenderanno ad affrontarle
in russo
Comunque Be My Guest è
utilizzabile da tutti coloro che desiderano apprendere i primi elementi
della lingua in modo sicuro e divertente. Essi ascolteranno il russo
realmente parlato attraverso dialoghi tra parlanti nativi e stranieri.
Le situazioni prese in esame sono comuni ed, allo stesso tempo,
dinamiche. Gli esercizi interattivi aiutano a ricordare le parole e le
strutture linguistiche e sono divertenti. L’allievo non potrà sentirsi
frustrato poiché potrà sempre premere un tasto per avere un aiuto

materiale di apprendimento che presto sarà on-line
nella sua forma completa e, nel frattempo, lo abbiamo presentato
in vari convegni, di cui uno all’Università di Granata (Facoltà di
Letteratura e Filosofia) a maggio 2009, uno a Malta nel mese di ottobre
2009 ed un terzo in collaborazione con

Lo stato dell'arte
Questo progetto si propone
la creazione di un insieme di materiali innovativi che promuovano e
facilitino l’acquisizione di competenze di base nella lingua araba ed
una migliore conoscenza della cultura araba tra i cittadini europei con
gli obiettivi di promuovere la comprensione tra culture diverse e la
realizzazione di progetti in comune, incrementando così la competitività
delle imprese Europee e facilitando la comunicazione e comprensione con
gli arabi che vivono in Europa.
I principali risultati
raggiunti in questa prima fase sono una relazione sui corsi multimediali
e sui materiali per l’apprendimento dell’arabo disponibili sia su
Internet che su CD-ROM, una relazione sui bisogni delle aziende in
rapporti commerciali con i paesi arabi e delle persone che studiano
l’arabo e la creazione di un sito web (www.learningarabic.eu). Il sito
conterrà una piattaforma di e-learning con un corso multimediale
sull’arabo di 10 unità, realizzato sulla base dei bisogni individuati
nella prima fase, una versione dei dialoghi del corso da usare con Ipod/MP3,
informazioni sulla geografia e sulla cultura dei paesi arabi come pure
sulle loro relazioni con
E’ prevista anche la
produzione di un CD-ROM contenente il corso, da usare quando una
connessione Internet non è disponibile e di file audio scaricabili, con
gli stessi contenuti delle unità di apprendimento ma da usare con IPOD /
MP3 con un approccio di solo ascolto durante un viaggio o in qualunque
altra circostanza
Il progetto, della durata
di due anni, mette assieme le competenze di 7 istituzioni di 4 paesi
Europei (Italia, Paesi Bassi, Portogallo e Spagna) e quella
dell’Università della Palestina in qualità di partner associato.

"Languages & Integration through Singing””
Il progetto è diventato realtà
E’ quasi un luogo comune dire che il linguaggio della musica è universale e che cantare insieme unisce popoli di diverse origini e culture. Quindi perché non usare la musica e le canzoni per promuovere l’integrazione degli immigrati e per incrementare il plurilinguismo sia nelle scuole che nei corsi per adulti? Questo tipo di approccio favorisce infatti un apprendimento della lingua adatto ai diversi tipi di età e di allievi.
Il progetto LIS risponde proprio a questa esigenza. Infatti, al fine di facilitare l’integrazione e di migliorare sia la comunicazione che l’interazione e la comprensione interculturale, questo progetto si propone di produrre, sperimentare e valutare materiale didattico per l’insegnamento di Italiano, Romeno e Russo come lingue straniere utilizzando canzoni, supportate da materiali audio-visivi e multimediali, con collegamenti tramite Internet Il progetto ha anche lo scopo di incoraggiare l’innovazione nell’insegnamento in quanto particolarmente utile ai docenti che usano una lavagna interattiva multimediale.
Il materiale didattico, rivolto a docenti di IT/RO/RU come lingua straniera, giovani dai 16 anni in poi, persone in cerca di lavoro all’estero o impiegate nel settore turistico, è ora fruibile attraverso un apposito sito web nelle tre lingue IT/RO/RU www.languagesbysongs.eu. Il sito contiene procedure metodologiche sull’uso delle canzoni nell’insegnamento/ apprendimento di una lingua ed istruzioni sull’uso dei materiali didattici e su come produrli in proprio; esempi di materiali didattici con relative linee guida per gli insegnanti – temi musicali, lessico, contenuti grammaticali, esercizi sull’apprendimento della lingua finalizzati ad una autoverifica dei risultati da parte degli allievi, esercizi con uso del karaoke.
Al momento è in corso la
sperimentazione dei materiali nei paesi del partenariato con la
collaborazione dei partner associati (scuole e centri di formazione di
adulti). I risultati della sperimentazione saranno utilizzati per
definire meglio i materiali esistenti.

Il corso premiato con l’E-Quality Label 2009
Uno tra i più importanti
strumenti di integrazione tra popoli diversi e di stimolo al loro
sviluppo è certamente l’industria del turismo. Questa industria ha però
bisogno di personale dotato di una adeguata preparazione. Allo scopo di
sviluppare la dimensione Europea nella formazione dei formatori e di
ridurre il divario tra la formazione scolastica ed il mondo del lavoro
specificatamente nel settore turistico i partner di quattro paesi
(Italia, Lituania, Romania e Spagna), coordinati dalla FENICE, hanno
individuato le abilità richieste ad un moderno “Agente per lo sviluppo
Locale del Turismo” (ALT), definito un quadro comune di riferimento nel
quale strutturare il riconoscimento legale di qualifiche basato su ben
identificate competenze, utilizzando allo scopo i “Descrittori dei
livelli nel Quadro Europeo delle Qualifiche”, scritto i contenuti (in
inglese) di un corso da erogare in modalità e-learning che sono stati
inseriti nella piattaforma web
Docebo, ospitata nel sito della FENICE.
Il corso, ormai
completato, è rivolto a persone dotate di requisiti al livello 2 dei
“Descrittori dei livelli nel Quadro Europeo delle Qualifiche”, di una
conoscenza della lingua inglese al livello “Intermediate” e di
conoscenze di base nel campo dell’economia, della geografia, del turismo
e dell’informatica.
Dal momento che l’uso del
corso presenta il doppio vantaggio di studio degli elementi fondamentali
del turismo e della contemporanea pratica di inglese, varie scuole
